How to Keep Your Gadgets Safe and New

[GADGETS]
by Roger B Rueda

Gadgets are the world over.We use them for convenience. They have become basic necessity of life. Everything we do depends on them, from bringing our status messages up to date to finding about the way back to the destination by way of the map apps. They are generally used and they are evident in almost all facets of our lives. Here are some ways through which you can mind out your gadgets.

>Not mislaying it is the first thing you need to do. Your name has to be written on the gadget and should be in indelible ink or in whatever mark that can be wiped away. You need to keep an eye on it.

>Downloading an app or software is important because through which you can track your device. And even though you lose it or someone snips it, you can track it back without any quarrels.

>It is important to protect your gadget from viruses. Doing so will mean that your device remains in fine fettle and will not call for constant reconfiguring of the device or result in your bringing data up the rear.

>Gadgets these days are made with some pretty shipshape material like metallic body. They are hardy and impervious to a lot of deterioration. Buy them the right kind of shield and watch how your phone looks new always. Some casings are not heavy-duty, so they crack up easily.

>Your gadgets come with some auxiliary accessories. These items are not to be used at all times simply because you would not need them. But when you do need them you may not find them on the dot. Cover them in a plastic container which can be used well ahead.
>Sunlight can be very bad to your gadgets, so all your gadgets must be kept away from direct sunlight. If not, it’ll be ruined. Its body can become mutable or smelted a little in the fierce heat of the sun.

>If in the event your gadgets went wrong, don’t bring it to unknown repair centres. After some time, you will be paying more. It would be best if you bring it to recognised repair centres or service centres of the gadgets.

>As much as you want to use your phones at length, you have to prop it for a while. Don’t charge your gadgets though it’s half empty. You have to wait on the warning that it needs to be charged. For one thing, most gadget batteries are predisposed to playing up, and it is not easy to replace them.

Always bear in mind that gadgets can be easily broken. If you don’t take care of it, you’ll have to fork out for buying a new one every now and then.

Weather Bug Elite: A Weather App to Follow Bad Weather

[APPS]
by Roger B Rueda

Weather apps come to grips with functionality and sleek designs, but visually they aren’t fancy or super nice or even over the top pleasing. The ones that do show some subtlety in functionality usually go overboard with the fanciness and disproportionately count on your smartphone’s GPS services, which can give in your data plan rather rapidly. Nevertheless, if you want smooth graphics in your weather updates and an app that not only does the work, but also looks great while doing it, then Weather Bug Elite is the app that finishes your rummaging around for quality.

The Weather Bug Elite Android app has a few qualities that are worth turning over in your mind. Some of them put it higher up in the pecking order of weather apps. At the start, you can personalise the way you choose to view your weather with at-a-Glance weather widgets that are provided within the app itself. This warrants that your weather app looks like what you want it to look like. One of the key features of an Android phone is its high litheness in terms of customisation of settings. This way the app represents you as much as your phone does.

Every widget focuses on different styles and lays predominant importance on different features, so you know which one is important to you and for that reason you can choose. The weather widgets have large display maps, so weather movement can be seen easily. The maps make it quick to read. Information due to colour coding is easier to blend in.

One can switch to large maps for better visualisation and the maps are so comprehensive one can even track imminent storms using them. Landscape and portrait modes can be drawn on, and this app automatically adjusts itself to fit either mode without a glitch.

The app provides users with an in-built GPS and GPRS intelligence-driven GPS location tracker. So if you allow the app to ‘Find Me’ it circumvents your location settings and automatically spots your location to give you exact location-driven weather information.

The applets you view WeatherBug National Outlook videos in a very high resolution, which is about 640×480. It also provides fixed images so that bad connexions aren’t stopping you from receiving vital information. This includes quick-glance snaps and even live camera images of the weather. This weather app also uses your current location to find 15 locations in a 100 mile radius of you to present you these details.

The app has radar animation which is a favoured tool amongst weather app users and is provided by most of the other apps. You can pan and zoom through the maps and it also lets for time-lapse animation. It has a nice layered way to dividing your weather details in relation to the temperature, moistness, pressure and even things like visible satellite, Doppler radar, infrared satellite, wind speed and due to the extent of detailing the app can even give you a fairly accurate estimate of tomorrow’s weather highs and lows. The forecasts extend not only to the next day, but 7 days in advance. The forecasts are in depth enough to consider hour divisions.

Essential Automotive Technology for 2014

[TECHNOLOGY]
by Roger B Rueda

Automotive technology is indeed blowing up for 2014. Automakers are taking part to be number-one in car technology, for they know that today's car owners expect all-in-one technology integration on the road. To help you keep all the hottest technology features straight, we've drawn up our essential technology features for 2014, with a straightforward value assessment for each gadget.

BLUETOOTH AUDIO

Bluetooth Audio lets you play music from your phone. You can keep all your familiar playlists and enjoy them on your car's speakers, without having to plug anything into or transfer your songs to a different device or medium. It's truly an essential feature in our time.

Bluetooth audio in expensive options packages is hither and thither. But for the most part, it's widely available for 2014 and well worth stipulating.

SMARTPHONE APP INTEGRATION

While Bluetooth Audio allows you to wirelessly listen to music from your device, App integration adjusts the interface to your car. For instance, Bluetooth Audio allows you to hear to Pandora, App integration allows you to control Pandora from the car's radio or navigation screen.

App integration is increasingly predominant even in price-conscious segments (for instance, the new 2014 Toyota Corolla offers it), and for rationalisation. Today's car shoppers are keen on their smartphones, and they don't want to lay those handy apps by while they're on the road. Since so many apps are useful for drivers, it just makes sense to integrate them directly into a car's central display screen, often with boosted features. There's also a safety angle here; the 2014 Honda Accord, for instance, will let you thumb-up/down a Pandora song without taking your eyes off the road.

TEXT-TO-SPEECH READING TECHNOLOGY

It lets drivers stay connected in real time without having to look down at their phones. If you receive frequent correspondence via phone, this is potentially a very handy addition, and it usually comes bundled with other desirable features that you want anyway. But keep in mind that there are also third-party solutions such as the DriveSafe.ly app that provides similar functionality in cars with Bluetooth audio.

UPMARKET SEATS

Many previously high-end seat functions have trickled down to inexpensive segments: Heated front seats are common, heated rear seats aren't unheard of and features such as aeration, power adjustments, memory and even massage functions are also gradually available. You can get heated rear seats in the compact Hyundai Elantra sedan.

The technology revolution has brought such niceties into reach for everyday car shoppers, and that means real progress in driving comfort.

That depends on personal preference, of course, but we expect features such as height and lumbar adjustments in any modern car. Massage functions are a different story, but heated seats are definitely a must-have for people in colder zones.

PORTABLE WI-FI

Automakers such as Audi and Chrysler are leading the way with infotainment systems that include Wi-Fi hotspot functionality, allowing Internet access for several devices from the road.

This is a great way to get it done without having to stop at a teashop if you need to do work on the move. As long as you've got service, you can just pull over wherever you are, bust out your notebook or tablet and start reeling. It's great for travellers, too, mainly on a road trip. Once-a-month data charges apply, naturally.

If you don't already have a mobile data plan for that iPad or what have you, then, this is a brilliant way out to the problem of working from the road. And even if you do, the ability to provide a hot spot for many devices could be an advantage for family road trips and the like.

ACTIVE DRIVING AIDS

You may be aware of perceptible alerts that warn you of cars in your blind spot and such. But for 2014, more cars than ever with ‘active’ driving aids can automatically apply steering, throttle and/or brake inputs to keep you in your lane and out of trouble.

Because given that these systems work as intended, accidents will certainly be minimised. Though a driver is fully focused on the road ahead, mistakes can still happen, and today's numerous distracted-driver issues only put up the problem.

How to Use Meetup.com in a P.R.Drive

[HOW TO]
by Roger B Rueda

If you do business locally, or you want to publicise whatever you’re doing in your local market, Meetup offers a wide range of features that can help.

Meetup is the world’s largest network of local groups. It makes it easy for anyone to organise a local group or find one of the thousands already meeting up head-on. More than 2,000 groups get together in local communities each day, each one with the goal of improving themselves or their communities.

Meetup boasts an impressive 9 million visitors a month, meets in 45,000 cities worldwide, and has 280,000 monthly Meetups on every topic imaginable. Use the search box on the homepage to look for a group that fits your interests. Or start your own group.

Here are the ways to use Meetup in a P.R.drive:

1. Create a Meetup account.

Even if your group has no special events to publicise, or you don’t intend to meet regularly, or even if your membership is invitation-only, create an account at least. Write a good description of what you do and the kinds of people who would be a good fit. You never know who’s searching for you.

2. Attend a meeting, meet members, and start forming relationships.

Don’t go intending to blast a free commercial about your business or hand out copies of your latest press release. Nobody likes that.

Meetup’s business groups have a lot of ways for members to endorse their businesses to each other. Get a feel for the group, its practices and offer free, helpful information. They’ll be dying to know what else you know. They’ll also be more of a mind to spread the word about what you’re doing.

3. Offer to speak at a Meetup group that includes people in your target market.

Give a content-rich presentation on something they are interested in and walked away with a pocket of business cards of people who want to subscribe to your weekly ezine or blog or whatever you have online.

4. Offer free information and samples to Meetup groups.

Group organisers love free stuff they can pass along to their members during a Meetup. A doggy day care owner can offer aking-size all-natural dog biscuit for a Meetup group of dog lovers. A plumber can give away a step-by-step guide on how to fix a leaky faucet to mums in a Single Mums Meetup. You can find the group organiser and contact information for each Meetup on that group’s page.

5. Connect your Facebook account to Meetup.

This allows your Facebook friends to see what you’re up to on Meetup, and vice-versa which further spreads the word.

6. Take advantage of Meetup promoting your group.

Once you’ve created a Meetup group, Meetup will promote it automatically. Most groups have new members within a few days.

7. Found a Meetup you love? Look for similar Meetups.

On some Meetup pages, you’ll see a box that says, ‘People in this Meeteup are also in…’

8. Need to get in front of bloggers? Many communities have blogger Meetups.

Get to know bloggers long before you want publicity. It is a great strategy. If you don’t have a blog yet, that’s OK. Ask them how to start one.

9. Learn about PR, publicity, marketing and social media.

In most major cities and many smaller ones, you’ll find Meetup groups keen on these topics. It is a fun way to learn more about whatever you need to know.

10. Look within Meetup groups for PR-related vendors.

Do you need a press release writer? Photographer? Ghost-writer? Publicist? Meetup’s search box makes it easy to find, within minutes, local groups where these people come together.

How to Reach Audience through Facebook

[SOCIAL MEDIA]
by Roger B Rueda

Facebook links people from around the world, making everything become adopted globally. And the best reason for Facebooking is the super opportunity for reaching everyone. It actively promotes socialisation and communication as it makes almost everything accessible to everybody, from our personal lives to our professional and business lives.

So, if you’re looking for a general overview of how to use Facebook to help your business grow, these brass tacks will set you up for success. You can also focus your activity on Facebook to meet clear-cut business objectives.

1. Set up your page

Create the hub for your business on Facebook. Your Facebook Page makes your business. When people search for you on Facebook, they'll be able to find you.Have personalised talks with your clienteles, who can like your Page, read your posts and share them with friends, and check in when they visit.Your Page can help you reach large groups of people regularly, with messages custom-made to their needs and interests.Analytics on your Page will give you a deeper understanding of your customers and your marketing activities.

When you set up your Page, you can request a web address like facebook.com/yourgreatcompany, which makes it easy to find. To maximise the impact, include this address on your business card, website, and other marketing materials. Your Page is an extension of your business. It’s an easy way to share updates and more with the people who matter most. It’s ready to help you engage your customers on desktop and on mobile.

2. Recognise your audience

Think about who you’d like to meet, and introduce yourself. Not only can you reach more people through Facebook, you can reach the specific people who are most likely to become your clienteles.

To help you connect, consider:

>What do your ideal customers have in common?
>How old are they, and where do they live?
>How can your business help them?
>Would one group be more interested in specific messages, products, or services?

To build your audience, encourage your current customers and supporters to like your Page. They’re the people most likely to see your posts in their News Feed. Also explore the options under the Build Audience button:

>Invite your friends. Let the people in your life know about your Page so they can support you by liking it. This initial audience helps you establish credibility and spread the word right away.
>Share your Pageand be sure to like it yourself. Be a spokesperson for your business.
>Invite your businesses contacts. Upload a list to send people an email so they know about your new Page.

It’s not about the number of likes. It’s more important to genuinely connect with the people you engage with on Facebook. If you do, they’ll help tell your story.

3. Create compelling content

Make your business take off on Facebook

As you post updates, photos, and more, think about what your customers find interesting and inspiring. How will you talk to them? What do you want to consistently communicate about your business?
Experiment with different kinds of posts. Does your audience love photos or prefer when you share useful links? You’ll find out quickly. Then use Page Insights to see which posts are performing the best.

Share what you're genuinely excited about and your customers will be excited too. When people comment on your posts, show that your business is listening and that you care. If you need more time to answer a question, let them know you’re looking into it.The more regularly you post, the more opportunity you have for connecting with people and building trust. Setting a schedule for your posts can also help maximise your team’s time.Replicate your success on posts that get more engagement. When you notice that a post is getting a lot of engagement, promote it to reach even more people. When people like, comment on or share your posts, their friends are also eligible to see those posts in News Feed.

Your recipe for success is to create Page posts and ads that are interesting and valuable to your customers – and to target your messages so the right people see them.

4. Promote your business

Reach more of the people who matter most to you. Once you’ve started connecting with your customers on Facebook, you’ll want to find other people who are likely to be interested in your product or service. You can use Facebook ads to send the right message to the right people, just when they’re most open to discovering your business.

Creating Ads

You can create an ad right from the admin panel of your Page to engage more people, or you can use the ad create tool.Once you’ve built a community around your Page, use the ad create tool to target your ads to reach the friends of the people who already like you. It’s a way to naturally grow your customer base through word-of-mouth.Be specific about the audiences for different ads. You can create sets of ads to connect with different target audiences. People are more likely to respond to a message crafted just for them.

Fine-tuned Targeting

Add a private list of your current customers to Facebook using custom audiences and then use lookalike audiences in the Ad Create tool to find other people who are similar to them. When you create an ad using the ad create tool, use ‘interest targeting’ to reach people who already like or have a connection to other things on Facebook that are similar to what you’re offering. You can maximise the return on your investment by creating ads for specific audiences.

5. Measure and adjust

Find out what’s working well, so you can maximise the impact of every post and ad. Facebook has a lot of different tools to help you measure how you’re doing.

Visit Page Insights often and look for trends so you can develop more of the best-performing content.Use Page Insights to understand who responds to your messages. Make sure to look at the gender, age, and location of the people who are the most engaged with your business so you can continue to engage them through targeted ads and promoted posts. When you create your ads, try out different images and headlines to see what works. Facebook will automatically optimise your campaign so that more of your budget goes to the ad that’s performing the best.Ask how people heard about you – at the end of a call, in a survey, or at the point of sale – and keep track of what they say. It will supplement the data Facebook’s tools provide.

Promoting your business is all about helping you realise your goals.

How to Use Your Smartphone When Travelling

[HOW TO]
by Roger B Rueda

Often,we are bored with the tedium of shuttling to a particular place on the bus or other such modes of transport. Normally, we don't have any cell service or Wi-Fi to use to entertain ourselves. Possibly soon that will change but for now we are stuck with having no access to the internet during these times. Well, for your convenience, we have brought together a list of 5 useful things you could do on your smartphone so thatyou can top up these hours you spend on your travel.

Improve Your Memory Skills

You can also use the time to sharpen up your memory skills. Memory is something that atrophies with age and with lack of use and by playing some games on your commute, you could improve your memory in the process. For Android we would recommend memory trainer or brain workout. Games like chess also help workout the logical side of your brain, not to mention it’s a pretty fun game to play too.

Keep a Journal

Even if there are apps such as Friday that create an automatic journal for you on your phone or tablet, you may want to keep something more intimate, something that keeps a record of how you are feeling and that’s where a digital journal comes in. You can reflect on your thoughts and moods on that long train ride to and from work and soon enough you may actually be doing it on a regular basis and loving it.

Do you have any other ideas of what someone could spend their commute doing on their phone without an internet connection? Please leave a comment below and we will get back to you.

Learn a Craft

You can also learn to nurture your creative side by learning a cool craft or skill using your mobile phone. You can use apps that teach you how to sew and you can also download some apps that provide a place for you to practice drawing or painting. All skills that may impress someone who you might fancy or skills that you might just find fun.

Learn to Code

Learning to code is something that is becoming more and more important with each passing day. You will find that it’s a skill that will be good to put on your CV when you’re looking for a job as well. You could perhaps learn C++ Programming or how to program on your own Android phone.

Learn Languages

There are several apps you can use to learn languages using your Android phone. You never know when you may find yourself having to show you know a foreign language or when you may find yourself in a foreign land where no one speaks English, so you might as well start practising now. You can download apps such as Babbel or Duolingo to help you with this. Both are free on the Google Play Store.

5 Must-Have Games for Your Android Tablet

[GAMES]
by Roger B Rueda

Tablets have embraced a major role in the Android world and an increasingly large number of apps uploaded onto the Google Play Store have been projected for tablets. Although the games selected today are also compatible for smartphones, they are actually designed for larger screens in order to take full advantage of the graphics, effects, and features. Here are the essential apps that will guarantee hours of gaming fun on your Android tablet.

Blood and Glory

This fighting app centres on half-naked men, wielding swords and other horrible pain-inducing weapons, thrown into a pit. It’s a free Android app that will transform your tablet into a portal to Ancient Rome. The game is set in the Roman Coliseum where you must step into the role of a hard-bitten gladiator fighting for his life. Featuring a tutorial and practice round, it's easy enough to handle that it won't be long before you are actually combatting another Gladiator for blood and honour.

Dead Trigger 2

Isn’t it fun destroying fleshy and disgusting-looking zombies with a wide range of weapons? Doing this on a tablet, that's what. Dead Trigger 2 arrived on Halloween last year and had crowds of zombie killing fans dreadfully waiting until the wee hours of the morning for its release. This app packs amazing graphics and is totally free. It is another must-have for your tablet.

Hungry Shark Evolution

As one of our essential apps for Android tablets, this game gets you under the skin of a razor-toothed shark looking for its next tasty morsel: preying on fish and humans alike. It's simple: just swim up and down, from side to side and as soon as a yummy fish or bikini-clad swimmer gets in the way, Mr Nibbles will do the rest instinctively. Soon thereafter you will see blood start floating onto your screen. You’re able to control how you want to navigate the shark, either by tilting your tablet or using on-screen touch control.

Real Racing 3

This is an exhilarating racing game. Real Racing 3 has amazing graphics which are very realistic, via three different camera modes (behind the car, steering wheel, and bumper view). The app features real car brands, like in Gran Turismo. If you like racing games, don’t miss out on the racing experience that Real Racing 3 brings to your Android tablet.

Temple Run 2 and Sonic Dash

These Android games areendless running games, where your characters are either being chased by some angry apes like in Temple Run 2 or trying to be as fast as possible like in Sonic Dash. Both characters collect coins and prizes along the way as they slide and jump around obstacles. With similar game play, Temple Run 2 is set in a hidden temple buried in the jungle, while Sonic Dash reintroduces you to the famous Sonic the Hedgehog and his world from Sega console gaming. In order to take advantage of the graphics and gameplay offered, you really need a tablet, which is why these two have found their way onto this list of essential apps.

How to Send Gifts to Your Facebook Friends

[HOW TO]
by Roger B Rueda

To stay connected to friends to digitally celebrate important events with people, you need to be a Facebook user. There are several tools available that let you post more than ‘happy birthday’ or ‘congratulations’ on friends' Timelines. And now, you can send your friends a physical gift.

Facebook Gifts

Gifts is Facebook’s new feature that lets you pick out things like cookies, household goods, T-shirts, and posters and send it to your friends. It looks like it will be pretty slick in a couple of ways.

You don’t need to know where your friend lives to send a gift. Once Facebook lets the person know you’ve purchased one, he or she tells Facebook where to send it as well as if a different size, style or flavour is needed. You can also opt to delay paying for an item until your friend accepts it as well as choose whether you want to keep your gift private or let all your friends know you gave it.

Gifts isn’t activated for everyone yet, but once the feature is live, you can give a gift right within the birthday reminder in your news feed or by clicking on the Gifts tab on a friend’s Timeline.

Treater

Treater lets you give Facebook friends spontaneous ‘Treats’ such as a latte at Starbucks, an after-work cocktail, movie tickets, or a massage. Each Treat is a one-time use payment card that can be redeemed just like a credit card for gift items at shops, cafes, and online. For now, Treater is integrated with Facebook, but this week, Treater is launching iPhone and Android apps that will use your phone’s address book, so you can send a treat to someone using their email address or phone number or deliver it as a Facebook post.

When a gift recipient wants to redeem a Treat, the one-time-use credit card pops up on the person's mobile-device screen and the merchant manually enters it into the payment register. Once the Treat has been used, it vanishes from the recipient's profile and any remaining funds that were not used during the transaction are transferred to a Treater ‘Piggy Bank’ for later use.

Wrapp

A cool social gift-giving service, the Wrapp lets you give free and paid gift cards to Facebook friends using your laptop or smartphone. The free gift cards are usually smaller amounts, such as $5 to spend at retailers such as Gap or Sephora. You can send them as is, or add funds to make it a larger gift. And, if you don’t see a desirable free offer, you can buy gift cards to other merchants such as Levis, Zappos, and Banana Republic.

The website and iOS and Android apps connect with your Facebook account and tell you which of your Facebook friends have birthdays today, this week, and in the coming months. You just pick someone, grab a gift card, and choose to send it to them via email or on the person’s Facebook Timeline, along with a message. If you use Wrapp on your smartphone you can deliver the gift through text message, as well.

Caution Prior to Rooting Your Android

[ROOTING]
by Roger B Rueda

Rooting Android is trendier today than it has ever been some time ago. In our day, some custom ROMs are reorganised more regularly than stock versions of Android. And,undeniably, there are hundreds of new features and apps to access after rooting your Android.

But there are some important things to do before rooting your Android. Now, we’re going to list those things and show you how to have a safe and effective rooting experience:

DOWNLOAD ONLY FROM RELIABLE ROOTING SOURCES

Rooting your Android gives you access to the very core features of your device. At the same time, your rooting kit (exploit kit) needs to hack into your device to go along with this access. Most rooting kits are designed by programmers who find exploits simply for the challenge and the recognition. These rooting kits are safe and are often free to download. On the other hand, not all rooting kit programmers have goodintentions. Some build root kits designed to brick your device, while others install malware and viruses on your device. Always download your root kits from trusted sources except that you want to brick your device.

POWER UP YOUR ANDROID TO 100% BATTERY LIFE

Rooting uses up your phone’s battery life, but it doesn’t use it up at a crazy rate. There are always some users who encounter a serious rooting problem because they didn’t listen to these instructions. Power up your phone to 100% before you go rooting, and if you don’t have time to do that, then at least power it up to 50%, which should be enough.

KNOW EXACTLY WHICH HANDSET AND MODEL NUMBER YOU HAVE

Always be sure to download root exploits that are either:

>Intended for your specific phone
>Have been established to work with your specific phone

Or else, you’re going to run into some serious compatibility errors. To find your specific Android model number, look for About Phone under your Settings menu.

BACKUP YOUR ANDROID

Rooting an Android from any source comes with risks. The biggest risk is that you’ll brick your device and be unable to find everything on it. You should keep a backup of your Android prior to rooting.

There are a number of reasons why a root could go pear-shaped, including:

>You used a root kit for the wrong version of Android
>You used a root kit for the wrong model number of your Android phone or tablet
>Your battery died halfway through the rooting process
>The root kit was bad and crossed the thresholdof a loop or chanced upon other errors
>You gave up halfway through and started crying

If you see a root exploit that doesn’t specifically cover your Android model number, then you probably don’t want to be the first to test that out. However, some people like to try being the test mock.

Chewing the Right Mobile Phones Over

[MOBILE]
by Roger B Rueda

Mobile phones are not just a great way to keep up with friends and family, but they can also be the hottest fashion accessories and the gadget you can use to pick up your life in images and videos. There are diverse mobiles on the market, from classy smartphones like the iPhone 4 to reasonably pricedoptions like the LG KS360 which are suitable for young peoplewho like to text and chat. Let’s take a quick look at the kinds of mobile phone models that are availableand reasonably priced and see which one will be good for you.

If you are looking for cell phones for girls then there are several dependable options. TheBlackBerry Curve is one of the most popular mid-range smartphones designed for people who want to tap out longer messages on a physical keypad and not rely on tricky touchscreens to keep their social lives up to date. The Curve 8520 is available in a few cool colours, including modish silver and vivacious violet, which means you do not have to go for the business-like all-black edition which appeals to a more adult audience but is nowhere near as fun. The Curve 8520 is within your means.

If you want to get an official iPhone for girls then the good news is that the iPhone 3GS, which is coming up to two years old, is still available to buy at a cheaper price point than the current flagship iPhone 4 handset. It is available in either black or white finishes and is well-matched with the latest version of the iOS software platform. With hundreds of thousands of apps and games to download, getting an iPhone for girls will be a good way for parents to earn brownie points.

Not everyone who is looking for a phone for children has a budget that will stretch to cover the iPhone 3GS but you can still enjoy high quality smartphone features at lower price points. A great option is the HTC Wildfire S, which is available in a number of different colours for both male and female tastes. It runs the Android operating system and can download a selection of apps from a catalogue of thousands, just like Apple`s handsets. Its 3.2 inch screen makes it easy to slip into a pocket or purse and with HTC Sense on-board it is easy to see your latest updates from Facebook and Twitter.

It is worth remembering that you can get free gifts with mobile phone deals online. That means brand new models can have even more value added to the package by coming with a free games console, laptop, or accompanying accessory.

Moto G: The Definitive People's Smartphone

[GADGET]
by Roger B Rueda

The design on the Moto G doesn’tfollow the existing smartphone chic of the straightest possible form and thinner-is-better framework style. Its profuse side is the curved back which is practically 1.2 cm thick, while the tinniest part is just over 6 mm.

Its affinity with the Moto X is quite unmistakeable. Both have the same interchangeable back side made from a slightly rubberised polycarbonate, built with the headphone jack at the top side as well as a cut out for the camera, an LED flash and finally a Motorola logo. Just like the Moto X, there are a lot of colours from which to choose.

The display is framed by a glossy plastic edge that produces a smooth visualconnexion between the rubberised chassis and the display glass. The front is quite minimalistic: the telephone speaker and front camera are the only accents. What is clear is the comparatively heavy weight of the Moto G at 142 grams, making it 13 grams heavier than the bigger Nexus 5 and even 3 grams heavier than the LG G2 with its 5.2-inch display. The bulk does certainly contribute to its high-quality feel, on top of its all-in-one design which makes the Moto G distinctive.

Only just measuring 4.5 inches, the display on the Moto G has a resolution of 1,280 x 720 pixels. With a pixel density of 326 ppi, you’ll find the Motorola smartphone to be more than sufficient for presenting your fillings with considerable sharpness. When it comes to comparing the HD display of this device and the Full HD display of sophisticated handsets, the differences are quite minor. The viewing angle is good, though its lustreis unbound with the rivalry, like the HTC One or the LG G2 for instance, but remember those phones cost two or three times in excess of the Moto G.

Bloatware and superficial apps don’t exist on the Moto G. The only intrinsic apps are Motorola Migrate, Assist, Care, and a UKW Radio. Motorola Migrate allows you to display brightness, easily transfer your SMS messages, SIM contacts, call logs, volume settingsfrom your old smartphone to the new Moto G. Assist serves the purpose of a secretary that will spontaneously adjust the volume for meetings or at night time, as well as mute the telephone when needed. Care is Motorola’s support and help portal app where the user can get answers to their Moto G enquiries.

The processor on the Moto G is a Snapdragon 400 with four cores, a clock speed of 1.2 GHz and 1 GB of RAM. In comparison to the standards of the high-end smartphone realm, this isn’t much, however despite that fact, the Moto G’s software and hardware work very consistently together.

The camera, which includes a very useful and well-thought out development from the Android stock app, takes pictures with a resolution of 5 MP.

The battery performance provides another angle within Motorola’s promotion. Motorola promises 24 hours of battery life and the battery is actually quite powerful with a capacity of 2,070 mAh.

The mechanical features that come with the Moto G aren’t in the class of grander smartphones, but sit somewhere in the middle ground. The quad-core processor with 1 GB of RAM and Android 4.3 operating system warrant that the system runs efficientlyall the time.

Tracking Down Your Child with Synagram

[APPS]
by Roger B Rueda

The smartphone is getting more and more terrifically utilitarian, purveying almost everything we need – from games to virtual pets. It has become a multipurpose tool in this day and age.

To clinch your child's safety and peace of mind, having Synagram on your smartphone is the answer. Now tracking down your child is a piece of cake.

When you first start the app you will see the special structure of the application - a distinction between a parent and a child at the start. The parent must first create an account and then sign in to the individual device. This registration creates the parental account on your smartphone with which your child's account will be linked. As soon as the process is finished, the child must then enter a code that is shown on the device of their parents in order to finalise the joining up.

Syngram offers a lot of tasks that can bring peace of mind for parents. From the child's standpoint though, the application is divided into three separate tabs. There is a news section that will allow the child to keep up with present and coming events that are important for the family. This could include visiting the dentist, visiting families, going on a field trip, or going to a party, for instance. The only thing you can't think out of is whether or not your child will ever really look at this schedule.

The app has two key buttons. It is a security and tracking application. Consequently, young users need to ‘check in’ to the locations their parents expect them to be at whatever time they arrive – at home or school for instance, so their parents know they have reached their destination without harm. This simple feedback circlet lets parents breathe a sigh of relief and allows children to prove that an agreed-upon schedule was kept to.

This pleasant green ‘check in’ button is positioned right along a more unpromising button colour. Across this red button is inscribed the words ‘emergency’ and pressing it will form a direct connexion to the parents. The trick behind the emergency connexion is that it is done silently on the child's side, so if they are in company, no alarm sound is activated, which could make the situation worse. On the parental side, on the other hand, the smartphone will begin to loudly indicate that trouble is just round the corner so they can act immediately. The parent can access the child's location, send a message, or call him/her.

Beyond the essential safety component of Synagram, there is a whole host of other functions from the parent's side that allows them to be their child's protector. For instance, the battery level of the child's smartphone can be kept an eye on. This is particularly advantageous with today's battery performance and battery-guzzling apps, so if you see your child's battery is about to pack up, you can check in ahead of time and make sure everything is fine before they are out of reach.

Another helpful feature is location determination, by means of which you can get a GPS fix on your child's smartphone location. Here, of course, you will require the cooperation of your child, because they will need to actively turn on the GPS tracking on their device. We must also distinguish between the levels of supervision available between the ‘Monitoring’ or observe mode for smaller children and ‘Supervision’ or guide mode for older children, because children of different ages require different levels of independence and parental inattention.

Synagram is visibly organised and follows the Holo design course of action. The operation and the graphical presentation is well done and the general picture is very dependable.

Above all, the focus on the main content is commendable and does not distract from the main task of the application – safety and tracking.

Synagram was tested and it didn’t have any crashes as it was consistently stable. It is available free of charge. It is an absolute recommendation for all parents and children, but it is important that they openly and honestly discuss the use of the application and work as a team to implement it properly. It offers great benefits to both sides. Parents can dispel worries about where their children are and whether or not their phone battery may have died, and kids have a direct line to their parents in an emergency and can spare the nerves of their loved ones. If the app is mutually agreed to by both sides of the generation gap it is a really great addition to the family.
